Naomi Chrisoulakis - Writer, Postpartum Doula and Podcast Host

Naomi is a writer, postpartum doula and podcast host who believes every woman deserves a postpartum period that's restful, rejuvenating and respectful of the massive transition into motherhood.

After 10 years of working in magazines, including Marie Claire and Women's Health, Naomi gave birth to her daughter and discovered that while she'd prepared a Pinterest-worthy nursery, she hadn't prepared at all for postpartum. A bout of postpartum anxiety, an unsettled baby and friends and family who wanted to help but didn't know left her thinking: birth is just the beginning.

She discovered the cultures around the world encourage women to eat well, chill out and focus on bonding with their baby during the first month to six weeks. In China, female relatives cook up storms in the kitchen as women observe zuo yue zi, or the ‘golden month’. In Latin America, women rest and recuperate during la cuarentena. In India, women are massaged daily and often eat according to Ayurvedic traditions. It’s all about stepping back, slowing down, healing and resting, in order to transition healthily and happily from expectant parent to mother. Family and friends mother the new mother and treat her as gently as a newborn.

These days, Naomi offers a modern take on these ancient rituals by delivering nutrient-dense food designed for new mothers directly to their door, and offering in-home support. Her popular podcast, Tales From The Fourth Trimester, shares women's stories of their postpartum experiences as well as wisdom and advice from experts.
